His comic strip, "Nuts and Bolts", began running in the school"s newspaper, the Michigan Daily, in his freshman year, and he was selected to speak at graduation. He graduated from high school in 1988 and entered the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor's School of Art, intending to emulate his cartoonist heroes, Garry Trudeau and Berkeley Breathed. Winick was born February 12, 1970, and grew up in Dix Hills, New York. He also created the animated TV series The Life and Times of Juniper Lee, which ran for three seasons on Cartoon Network. Due to his criminal record and ultimate goal of world domination, Zodon is under special security measures that he constantly tries to thwart, such as limited internet access and a Barry-Ween Chip that censors his swearing by replacing it with random interjections or show-tunes. He currently lives in the dorms at PS238. He erased their memories and placed them with an alternate version of himself that had been orphaned. Zodon arranged for his parents to live in an alternate dimension without meta-humans because he heard them say things would be better if he had been born "normal". The ACLU drew up the forms his mother signed to enroll him, permitting extra security precautions. He was enrolled in PS238 shortly after the disappearance of his parents. Zodon is a self-identified evil genius who attends PS238.
